Register TO WALK WITH US AT THE ANNUAL CITY OF PEARLAND CHRISTMAS PARADE
Annual Walk For PKU
The City Of Pearland has giving us the opportunity to have a PKU Float during the City’s Christmas Parade. One mile walk to raise awareness of PKU. Each year we find angels during our walk who come in the form of chefs, nurses, doctors, and just people wanting to change Amberly’s life and all those living with PKU. If you are interested in walking with us or helping us build our float please send us a message below!
For over 40 years The City of Pearland has been hosting the annual Hometown Christmas Parade on the first Saturday in December at 6 p.m. The evening parade brings out dozens of floats and walking groups decked out in lights and holiday spirit. Spectators will see marching drill teams, unique classic cars, dazzling floats and so much more!
In 2015 when Amberly was born and diagnosed with PKU we decided to submit an application to the City of Pearland to allow us to have a PKU float to raise awareness of PKU. We didn't think this would be approved but God's plan is amazing. The City allowed our PKU float and we have built over 7 PKU floats through the years. For our 2nd parade the engineering students from The University Of Houston came out to help us engineer an amazing float. In 2019 we had JP Morgan Employees donate their time and skills to create an amazing float. We would love to have more PKU families join the construction of the PKU float and walk with us at the parade. This year is your year to make an impact in the lives of patient's living with PKU. Awareness is essential for prevention, early detection, targeted therapy and is key to ensuring effective treatment. Being aware of a genetic disorder, its symptoms, and requirements means people are more likely to take preventative action, go for screenings, tests and check-ups. But most importantly people will have grace and compassion when they see someone eating different, weighing their food, and maybe eating strange low protein combinations. That may be all that their body can tolerate. |
