Thank you cards from the kids
Ashley Ahrens, MS
"I, Ashley Ahrens, site coordinator of Communities in Schools of South Central Texas, had the opportunity to work closely with Oasis Acres. Oasis Acres provided equine therapy to 8 of our CIS students from Seguin High School. The experience was wonderful and the best kind of mental health assistance provided to our students by far. I am so grateful to have come across such a terrific program and offer an alternative therapy to high risk students other than traditional counseling and therapy services. Equine therapy and the Power Tools for Living module truly helped our students learn emotional health life skills that can be used throughout their lifespan. I was not only impressed to see my students apply these skills in their therapy but saw these skills in action while in school. One student who participated in therapy had difficulty finding motivation to come to school, would get in fights, and poor performance in school. After participating in the program, she was a completely different person. She informed me that Mondays were why she woke up in the morning. She expressed that working with horses helped her manage her emotions and check in with herself; especially when she was feeling upset. For her assistant principal to notice the change in her behavior while in school is living proof that the work that Oasis Acres provided is a blessing and life changing for students. In all, the Oasis Acres Equine Therapy Program is fun and fulfilling. It empowers and instills confidence that is detrimentally life changing for our students. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts at Communities in School of South Texas in Seguin High School for changing the lives of some misunderstood yet wonderful students. Thank you"

"This experience was a God sent. I was in a car accident on May 8, 2021 and I was afraid and full of anxiety so I refused to drive. My husband drove me everywhere. After this class I was able to regain my independence and I drove for the first time on July 16th, 2021 I drove from San Antonio, Texas to New Orleans Louisiana and the icing on the cake was it rained the whole drive and I wasn't anxious or nervous. I Highly Recommend this class. I love that this experience is solution focused and the horses were amazing. This was my first experience ever with horses but it will definitely not be my last! Sending love to Skylar and Thank U Oasis Acres."

"I showed up at Oasis Acres not knowing if I had a spot for the first session. Well as it turned out, to my advantage someone had cancelled. I drove in from San Antonio Texas and was able to participate. We, as a group, did not know what to expect, but from the very first day we were made to feel at ease. Our group Specialists, Susan Adams, Charity Fox, Lisa Gibson, Regea Llernas and Marie Mason, L.P.C-Eagala Certified Mental Health Specialist where there for us and guided us through the process. We had to learn about ourselves, and others by participating in activities with the horses and then processing or discussing our feelings. Our group shared feelings of hope, relief, energy, and well-being. Horses, are so in-tuned to our feelings and have such a calming effect on us, and our reactions. I, learned to let go of past hurts, and accept that I was not to blame.
Equine Assisted Horse Psychotherapy helped me to accept my feelings and talk about my emotions. Letting go, and releasing only works if we are willing to participate in it. I would highly encourage any one that is on the fence about Equine Assisted Horse therapy, try it. We all have battle scars, some external, some within. You, have taken the first step to healing by reading my testimony. Respectfully, Olga Villareal (Retired, MSGT USAFR)."
