How do I become a Rainbow therapy team with my dog?
The key to any dog’s ability to be a successful therapy dog is its temperament. In general, a good therapy dog is responsive to its owner as well as other people, has good manners, is willing to learn new things, and doesn’t become overly stressed in new situations. Therapy dogs must be friendly, gentle, enjoy human contact and is content being petted and handled.
If your dog has these qualities, then he or she is a good candidate for Animal Assisted Therapy. To explore your abilities as an therapy team, try our Introduction to Animal Assisted Therapy class.

How do I become a Rainbow therapy team without a dog?
No dog, no problem! We offer many opportunities for members without dogs.
Just as we match dogs to the program that suits their skills and personality, we utilize volunteers experience and training to match them to our program needs. Are you a dog trainer, social worker, special education teacher, fluent in American Sign Language, former dog owner, graphic artist, marketing specialist, or general handyman type? Let’s talk!
