We are a multinational advocacy group for the advancement of women and girls.
To accomplish this broad goal, Strength India's programs and initiatives operate within parameters dictated by several of the following focuses
Menstrual Hygiene
Challenges created by the common realities of human biology continue to rank among the most dangerous problems faced by people across India--despite the fact that roughly 50% the population experiences monthly vaginal bleeding, rampant misinformation persists in creating access barriers to common products that greatly improve quality of life during menstrual periods.
Starting at the last mile, Strength India’s understanding of this problem has developed through unflinching engagement with thousands of women and girls from diverse backgrounds across the country. We conducted hundreds of hours of door-to-door surveys: boots-on-the-ground research enabling us to amass data from over 2,600 women across 9 Indian states. We are currently developing the educational and distribution-focused programming necessary to eliminate monthly problems associated with menstruation. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that every woman in India has access to the products she needs and deserves, every single month.
Violence Against Women
Strength India develops advocacy and intervention-based programs designed and implemented through a combination approach, including elements of direct-outreach, institutional partnerships, and research-based initiatives.
Originally inspired through a year of work with over 300 women caught in some of Northern India’s harshest and most violent conditions for neglected women, our founding team developed long-term and in-depth after-school programming and other direct outreach initiatives. Through partnerships with several schools and dormitories serving children from violent backgrounds in Varanasi and around the state, in addition to a selection of individualized and referral-based case work with women from surrounding districts in Madhya Pradesh, Noida, Delhi, Bihar, and Jharkhand, Strength India has impacted the lives of hundreds of girls.
Scientific Social Research
Strength India prioritizes and develops projects embracing diverse sociological, psychological, biological, anthropological, economical, historical, racial, and community-based frameworks--especially those who necessitate active, critical, and creative integration of multiple disciplines. We endeavor to develop complex questions and innovative data sets gathered with the intention to set lofty goals and craft diversified solutions.
We take special interest in the exploration of specific initiatives that use a gender-justice lens in conjunction with the frameworks mentioned above to improve understanding and/or practice within one (or more) of the following areas:
-mental health
-social and emotional learning skills
-early childhood sexual exposure
-communication and power dynamics
-impact(s--especially socio-psychological) of experiences related to travel, adventure, and/or nature/“the outdoors” upon society, life, and/or the human experience
