We need your help to impact environmental justice in NM
Help us continue the momentum and celebrate the success of Prosperity Works in creating Energy Equity for limited income families in New Mexico!
Some of Prosperity Works accomplishments:
August 2021: US Department of Energy Secretary, Jennifer Granholm, traveled to Albuquerque to hear stories of energy efficiency improvements in limited-income family homes. Albuquerque was chosen because of the amazing work here, spearheaded by Prosperity Works’ founder, Ona Porter.
July 2023: White House Infrastructure Coordinator, Mitch Landrieu, was sent by the Whitehouse to celebrate our successes. Among his stops was a visit to the home of Jennifer Morales, a mother of four, in the La Mesa neighborhood of Albuquerque.
February 2024: The Environmental Protection Agency profiled Prosperity Works for serving those most in need and hardest to reach in its just released EPA State and Local Climate and Energy Program (see sidebar for link to more information). The Bringing the Benefits Program focuses on effective initiatives to provide energy efficiency and renewable energy to low-income communities.
All of Prosperity Works’ energy-centered work is aimed at increasing energy justice. Not only does improving energy efficiency in a home reduce costs and toxic emissions, it also improves the health, safety and comfort of homes, preserves aging housing stock and makes the whole community healthier.
