OverviewKids Now provides underprivileged youth with the support and guidance they need to realize their own potential and make positive decisions. This is accomplished by participating in activities with other children through our after school program and workshops, or spending a few hours a month with a positive adult role model to build successful futures.
Our programming was created to provide a means for the children in the community to become empowered and motivated by education and other extra curricular activities. Our goal is to empower, uplift and impact these children in every walk of life by providing community enrichment and outreach programs, education, and mentorships. We hope to enable youth to develop a positive sense of self, to acquire teamwork and group social skills, and to become productive members of society. |
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide services which empower and nurture underprivileged youth.
What We DoWe provide workshops and after school programming for vulnerable kids to promote literacy, life skills, social skills, academic success, and creativity via our art programs. We also have a one-on-one mentoring program for qualified kids.
Our programs were created to empower our youth by protecting, healing, and teaching them by allowing them the chance to grow outside of their comfort zone and explore a world that is greater than the one they know of. We want to encourage them to strive for the best and to know that they can achieve their goals. We cater to children 5-18 years of age that are coming from different racial and ethnic backgrounds that may be at risk and that are coming from economically and socially challenged communities. We want you to join us as we provide enrichment programs for youth and preparing our children for the future. |
History
Recognizing the need for a program focusing on the needs of children with fewer resources at home, in 2005 our founder began looking for such a program. Seeing this need, “Kids Now” was born, providing tutoring, after school structure, mentorship, meaningful social opportunities, and life guidance to children in the community.
“Kids Now” is in an ongoing process of revision and enhancement of the curriculum through the experiences and suggestions of the participants, the board members, the facilitators and other supportive professionals in the community.
