WHAT IS LATE NIGHT?
Select Friday nights each month from 8-10:30pm, Trackside transforms in a salon like setting for High School students only. This initiative, created by two of our high school leaders who plan, execute and oversee all aspects of this offering, is an opportunity for our teens to have a space to enjoy and express themselves. WHAT HAPPENS AT LATE NIGHT? Students use the space as they like. The vibe is different from during the day. The setting offers a lounge-type feel, dimly lit, with comfortable couches and cozy seating areas. The entire space is open for a wide range of activities. Enjoy LIVE music, sip coffee or enjoy different food selections at the cafe, work on personal projects (think…. film making, podcasts, senior projects), wax philosophical with your peers, play chess, pool, shuffleboard, ping pong or playstation, engage in intellectually stimulating & supportive conversations, read poetry or sing karaoke on the open mic. Participate as you like. |
ARE THERE ADULTS ON SITE?
There is always an adult onsite. Select adults from the community have the opportunity to rotate through these evenings offering life wisdom, career guidance, enriching activity & support. If you're interested in being the adult onsite for one of these Late Nights, please reach out to us at [email protected]
WHY THIS OFFERING MATTERS?
This initiative was created by two of our high school leaders because they saw a need. For teens, having a place to relax, openly express themselves, & socialize with their peers in a low-pressure, suppotive and stimulating enviroment helps to develop a strong and solid sense of self.
In a world, that's become increasingly difficult to navigate, having a place and culture like Late Night is foundational to the well-being of our teens. "I wish I had a place like this when I was growing up," has been the common reaction from adults upon hearing of this offering.
HOW IS THIS FUNDED?
For the remainder of this academic year, these evenings are FREE. Our goal is to continue offering Late Night at no cost for our students. To that end, we're actively seeking sponsorship for this important wellness initiative.
If interested, please contact [email protected]
DO STUDENTS REGISTER?
Pre-registration is not required. Students are asked to sign in upon arrival. Late Night runs with an 'open-door' policy. High School students may arrive anytime and choose to stay for the duration or leave at any time. Trackside Teen Center is not responsible for students once they have left the premises.
