Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) 2005 and 2013
[Washington, DC ~ March 7, 2013] At a ceremony at the Interior Department, President Obama signs the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). The Vice President, who was the author of the original bill while he was in the Senate, also delivers remarks. The Violence Against Women Act, originally passed in 1994, "strengthens the criminal justice system’s response to crimes against women, including domestic violence, sexual assault and trafficking," according to the White House.
