2024
Tutoring and Enrichment
Inspiration Alcona won an educational grant for January through September 2024, $88,800 for after-school and summer tutoring and enrichment. This Michigan Department of Education program offers over 600 hours of learning to Alcona Community Schools students. Part of the time is devoted to tutoring in STEM subjects, with the rest going to enrichment lessons including dance, art, athletics, a gaming club and more. Two three-week summer sessions continue the learning.
2023
Tutoring and EnrichmentInspiration Alcona won from the Michigan Department of Education a $70,300 educational grant for programming beginning in early 2023. This after-school and summer program offers over 500 hours of learning to Alcona Community Schools students. About half the time is devoted to tutoring in STEM subjects, with the other half going to enrichment lessons including dance, art, athletics, a gaming club and more.

JUNE 2022
Free Summer Art for YouthBefore the afterschool grants expanded the program, Inspiration Alcona's annual summer art lessons were held at Alcona Elementary School for students finishing the third through fifth grade, including homeschooled kids and those visiting grandma for the summer.
In 2022, Alcona Elementary art teacher Brooke Green led the first four sessions. Detroit ceramics artist Ricky Blanding led the second four. |
