We are excited to announce our Artist Exchange program next year, April 7-17, 2025. Our Artist Exchange program envisions a vibrant 10-day collaboration that weaves together the artistic traditions of Hawaiian and Māori cultures. This initiative brings five Kanaka Māoli and five Māori artists to the stunning land and seascape of Koʻolauloa, Oʻahu, allowing them to develop their work and explore new ideas. The selected artists, who are also cultural custodians, historians, and educators, possess extensive community experience and create art deeply connected to the environment. This exchange enhances Hawaii’s cultural by providing rich, interactive experiences for residents and visitors.
Throughout the exchange, participants will engage in public exhibitions, interactive workshops, and “artist talks,” where they share their creative processes and cultural insights. These activities offer profound insights into the diverse histories, customs, and arts of Hawaii. Our objectives include facilitating cultural exchange and collaboration, fostering community engagement and education, and integrating environmental and indigenous knowledge.
