Doug BethuneBoard Member and Resident Technical Director
Starting in the early 70’s, Doug worked at Western Electric for 11 years. While already proficient in electronics, he started volunteering at a San Diego Christian TV station where he cut his teeth in the broadcast world. In 1981 he packed up his family and moved to Virginia Beach to work for C.B.N. as a camera operator. During his 40 years there (five of those working at Regent University) he became a technical director and also worked in the film department. In the film group he worked as a grip, key grip and gaffer. He also freelanced with many sports networks throughout the East coast. During his time at Regent (from 2003-2008) he had the roles of Adjunct Professor and Studio Supervisor. This is where he learned theatre skills. Doug also learned much of his lighting and set construction skills both at Regent and C.B.N. Now retired, he’s a deacon at Grace Community Church where he’s over audio/visual aspects, and he’s been volunteering with set design/construction and lighting design at Homeschool Plus and Arts Inclusion Company. KPCT is thrilled and thankful to have Doug as a Director on the Board and as Resident Technical Director.
