Dr. Chris Elemuwa (PhD, MSc)
Dr. Chris Elemuwa is a graduate from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, with an Associateship Degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLSCN) and a Bachelor and Doctorate in Public Health Microbiology. Dr. Elemuwa is currently the Deputy Director of the Laboratory and Surveillance, National Primary Health Care Development Agency in Abuja, Nigeria. Dr. Elemuwa has over 25 years of hands-on experience in laboratory science and field research. Dr. Elemuwa has exceptional know-how in healthcare delivery systems, preventive medicine, vaccine preventable disease surveillance and vaccine safety. Dr. Elemuwa also holds the degree of Master of Science (M.Sc) in Virology by the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, a Masters Degree in Immunology from Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU) in Anambra, Nigeria, a Masters Degree in Health Planning and Management by the University of Benin, a MLSCN fellowship degree in Hematology and Blood Transfusion Science, and a Doctorate in Public Health Microbiology by the Ambrose ALLI University, , Nigeria. Dr. Elemuwa has co-authored more than 30 peer-reviewed public health publications and is a member of several national and international professional societies. In addition to being a founding member of the Vaccine Safety Initiative Think Tank, he is also a Fellow at the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientist of Nigeria, an expert consultant to the Nigerian Healthcare Strengthening Initiative (HCSI) partnering with several national and international organizations including PATH 2 and the Federal Ministry of Health/ WHO. Throughout his career, Dr. Elemuwa has held numerous leadership positions, as a student activist as well as a professional and community leader. Dr. Elemuwa is a dedicated healthcare specialist who strongly believes in the ability to shape the future of our children by means of international collaboration, sustainable development and continuous improvement to the healthcare system in Nigeria and beyond.
Dr. Elemuwa is a founding member of the ViVi Scientific Think Tank contributing expertise in infectious disease surveillance and eradication. |
