Prof. Ali Khamesipour (PhD)

Prof. Ali Khamesipour (PhD) is a professor at the Center for Research and Training in Skin Diseases and Leprosy, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, in Iran. His expertise lies in GCP clinical trials of vaccines and drugs from Phase 1 to Phase 3, experimental and clinical Immunology, protocol development, data management and ethics. After receiving his PhD from the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology at the School of Medicine at Southern Illinois State University in 1992, Dr. Khamesipour completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Department of Pathology at the College of Medicine at the University of California, Irvine. Since 1993 he has been involved in the development and efficacy trials of vaccines against leishmaniasis. He is chair of the National Leishmaniasis Network and a member of a variety of professional associations, including the Editorial Board of Clinical Reviews and Opinions, the National Committee on Leishmaniasis Management, as well as the Research Council of Iran Molecular Medicine Network. Prof. Khamesipour has published over 100 articles, including contributions to the Journal of Clinical Immunology, the Journal of Tropical Pediatrics, Microbes and Infection, as well as Vaccine.

Prof. Khamesipour is a founding member of the ViVI Scientific Think Tank since 2008 contributing expertise in early vaccine development and clinical Leishmaniasis.
