Dr. Gabriela Codarini (MD)

Dr. Maria Gabriela Codarini is an experienced pediatrician and vaccinologist dedicated to delivering the highest level of care in immunization clinics while providing state-of-the-art vaccine consultations in a safe and secure environment. After graduating for the Medical University of Buenos Aires in 1988 and pediatric residency training at the Hospital de Niños "P. De Elizalde" in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She gained significant experience in teaching medical students and pediatric residents as a chief resident and residency program director. Dr. Codarini was also involved in the development of the distance learning program PRONAP by the Argentinian Pediatric Society, of which she has been a prominent member since 1992. For the past 10 years, she has been a leading clinician and researcher at the Stamboulian Vaccination Center (Centros de Vacunación Dr. Stamboulian) in Buenos Aires, one of the largest and busiest private multi-center vaccination clinics in South America. Here she has been involved in vaccine clinical trials and research on human papillomavirus (HPV) and HIV-1 vaccines, but also in the spontaneous reporting and active surveillance of adverse events following immunization (AEFI). Dr. Codarini has presented her work at national and international meetings and symposia. In 2011, she was awarded a grant by the Argentinian Pediatric Society for the development of a prospective vaccine safety surveillance program at her Center. Her recent research has focused on the communication of vaccine risk/benefit, socioeconomic determinants of vaccine acceptance, the implementation of vaccine safety standards and immunization schedules, vaccinations in adolescents and young adults, and the teaching of vaccinology and vaccine communication to pediatric residents and practicing clinicians.

Dr. Codarini is a member of the ViVI Scientific Think Tank since 2010 contributing expertise in pediatric infectious diseases and vaccine delivery.
