Kate Nicholson
Kate Nicholson (MfA, MA) is a social innovation designer based in Brooklyn working in the field of civic technology at BetaNYC. In her work she forms partnerships between government offices, elected officials and the public, produces events, and supports citizen-centered solutions to engaging more people in open data and tools for local decision-making. Her collaboration with the ViVI Think Tank began when she worked as a design strategist and impact producer at Ikana Health Action Lab, mobilizing engagement around a documentary film, Unseen Enemy, and the 21st century threat of infectious disease pandemics. She joined the ViVI Think Tank in 2020 to collaborate on COVID-19 related data-driven innovation projects. Kate has a MFA in Design for Social Innovation from the School of Visual Arts in New York, NY and a BA in Economics from Tufts University in Boston, MA, where she also minored in Entrepreneurial Leadership Studies.
