Martin Brix

Martin Brix worked with us as a doctoral student during the years 4-6 of his medical studies at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria. He signed up to study vaccine safety perceptions among parents because he enjoyed working with children, and he had the opportunity to work with team of 5 Study Coordinators who all interviewed parents in different parts of Vienna. Martins was particularly interested to find out how vaccines could be made more readily available, easier to administer, and even more effective at preventing diseases. The focus of his thesis were the perceptions of vaccine safety among parents in Vienna, compared with parents in two countries in Eastern Europe, where similar surveys had previously been undertaken by the US CDC. Besides all this, he still found time to work as a volunteer for the Red Cross, to play soccer, to meet with my friends, and to listening to music 'because and that is my way to relax after a hard day'.
