PROF. Kaja Damnjanović (PhD)

Prof. Kaja Damnjanović is ViVI's expert in medical and health-related decision-making, heuristics and biases. She studies psychological approaches to rationality; methodology; history and philosophy of science as well as. social epistemology. 
​Dr. Damnjanović is assistant professor at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Belgrade, researcher at the Laboratory for Experimental Psychology, and scientific associate at the Institute of Philosophy. Her work is focused on heuristics and cognitive biases, complex cognition, and rationality. Dr. Damnjanović is a leading expert on psychological aspects of vaccination. She investigates vaccine hesitancy in different groups of people, including. parents, women, students, and the general population. Vaccine hesitancy is defined as resistance to being vaccinated or to delay vaccinations despite vaccinating services being readily available. Hesitancy is a multi-layered phenomenon related to social and psychological factors. One way of examining hesitancy is to consider the issue of vaccination as a psychological decision-making process in the domain of health under conditions of measurable uncertainty. Placing it in the context of scientific psychological theories that describe and predict higher cognitive processes of judgment and decision-making, allows us to better understand the underlying concerns, stances and fears.
Dr. Damnjanović joined ViVi in 2020 to collaborate in studies examining factors associated with individual and group decision-making on vaccination.
